The phenomenal performance of Waterford man, Thomas Barr, at the Rio Olympics, has put Waterford on the International Olympics 400m hurdles map.
Barr not only qualified for the final in sensational circumstances but also managed to smash the Irish national record for 400m hurdles, despite the soaring heat of Rio de Janeiro. Barr, the pride of Ferrybank AC hails from Dunmore East, Co. Waterford, was agonisingly pipped at the post for a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles. This heroic performance not only brought great pride to his home town and county but has raised pride levels nationally.
Congratulations to the Barr family on the phenomenal performance of Thomas and we look forward with great anticipation to following Thomas’s sporting endeavors in the near future.
