The Personal Injuries Board Mid Year Review 2015 reported a 7% increase in personal injury claims this year.

A breakdown of these increased claims showed that there was a 6% increase in motor related claims, workplace claims are up 8.5% and accidents in public places increased by 9%.

The total amount awarded by the Injuries Board amounted to €128.5 million. In total there was 5,741 personal injury claims for the first six months of this year.

The average compensation awarded for the first six months of the year was €22,375.

Road traffic accidents represent over 75% of personal injury claims. Workplace accidents represent 7.8% of claims whilst 16.9% represent accidents in public places.

The majority of personal injury claims went through litigation, where the services of a personal injury solicitor were required.
